Yes...unfortunately I have picked up yet another hobby and now I am spinning yarn. This batch consists of wool that's usually used for felting, so it's not that great for spinning, but it kinda works.
Practice spins - my goal is to be able to make fingering and DK weight yarns, but really at this point it's just to learn how to spin.
- 2-ply silky white with blended blue/pink - expected ~40g
- Rearrange yellow-blue-green blended top into a gradient and chain ply - expected 20g
- Make in-between colours for the long staple wool and 2-ply as a fractal spin - expected 20g
In reality I ran out of the blue/pink wool before I finished the silky white stuff, so I attached it to the long staple greys instead. Final weights (balled):
- White and blue/pink - 33.1g ~6WPI
- Yellow-blue-green chain ply gradient - 20.5g ~7WPI
- Long staple greys - 30.5g ~9WPI
I don't have a niddy-noddy yet so I used hangers. Forgot to count wraps around the hangers (which would've been pretty inaccurate anyway) so I don't know how much length there is in these. WPI is unfortunately variable.
