This project is for showcasing my photos :) I think I held off on this for a while because I wanted to build a custom gallery page, but perhaps it's better to tap into the RSS feeds I'm already using.
My dad is the photog nerd and my mum has experience with developing film, so it...is kind of a family hobby, I guess? As a kid my parents would lend me a point-and-shoot 35mm camera (I don't think anyone actually remembered to show me the pictures after they got developed, but anyway), and then when digital cameras became commonplace I got my own and always had it on me...and then high quality cameras on phones became commonplace, and I no longer carried a separate camera.
At some point, though, I asked to borrow a DSLR from my dad for vacation and...just kept on using it. It's mine now. A big camera is a very useful thing to have - I have a lot of nervous energy, and I hate standing around awkwardly with nothing to do, especially in unfamiliar places; a camera solves all of those problems by giving me a task and purpose for being there AND communicating that I am doing Something. I'm not great at it and in the bigger scheme of things I'm just a casual, but I'm happy with how it's motivated me to go places and do things.
