While hollowing out the hill interior, I broke out into the hill's exterior and decided to just install a window, because I like windows. There is a door off to the side - I'm planning to make a walkway that will go around the room at this height and have a staircase to descend to the ground floor. Maybe this can help with maintaining the planned bonemeal farm as well.
