Fibre Arts :: FatCatKnits Samples - About
- Fibre: From FatCatKnits
- 2oz Falkland Merino in Seafoam
- 2oz Corriedale in Night Sky
- 2oz 18.5 micron Merino in Carbon
- 2oz Polwarth in Specter
- 4oz BFL in Blissful Calm MG
- (Surprise!) 2oz Targhee in Sea Cave
- Tool: Electric Eel Wheel Nano 2.1
These are for more practice and also sampling the fibre so I know what it feels like. I have some projects in mind so I'd like to know before I commit to bigger amounts! 2oz = a little more than 50g.
Planning to do the semisolids before I try the gradient. Surely approximately 200g of fibre is a decent amount of practice...when I think about it, I've only done less than 100g altogether, so this is a lot of stuff to spin.
In any case, my goals for these are:
- Use the spin card more often to check twist angle (this would also have helped catch my twist direction mistake previously) and width of single, basically focus on consistency and fix mistakes instead of letting them go all the time
- Put in more twist because my yarns keep falling apart when I'm plying
- Spin fine enough for 2-ply fingering weight and possibly even 3-ply DK weight
- Learn spinning from the fold
